Quality optometry eye examination is one thing. Having people really care about your eyes, life, and general welfare is another. That’s where our support staff has plans to excel. Beyond their friendly, welcoming reception voices are people who really want you to be comfortable with your whole experience with us. Our front desk, lens/frame lab and contact lens center goals are to help the entire vision care experience be as comfortable and pleasant as possible. No, we can’t promise to please everyone – but we can try…
Front Desk Staff
Heather has been with Bayview Optometry since its inception. She helped work through initial start-up issues and associated challenges and has continued to help us keep things running smoothly since. While recognized as a primary contact person for greeting patients and attending to incoming phone calls, Heather is an integral member of the team that will guide you through the registration and collection of pretesting information experiences and then will help with the check-out and payment components of your day. Behind the scenes roles are numerous but patient phone guidance, appointment scheduling/management and coordinating of communication to and from other health professionals are some of the tasks that Heather juggles.
Julie was a welcome addition to Bayview Optometry when she offered her experience from a previous Optometry office workplace and from other allied health care settings. At our front desk, she greets patients in person and by telephone with her bubbly personality. Like the rest of the team, Julie demonstrates her multitasking abilities by guiding patients through the pretesting zone while also helping answer questions about the exam process and eye issues. When asked for her opinion, Julie also appears to be quite comfortable offering fashion frame advice. She certainly has every patient's best interests in mind with everything she does.
Optometric Assistants
Janice is now a familiar face to many patients after having worked with them since Bayview Optometry opened. As a Certified Optometric Assistant, she enjoys helping with frame style decisions and provides counseling about lens designs and options. Janice's attention to detail is then applied to the proper fitting, adjustment and repair of glasses. Behind the scenes, she meets with frame and lens suppliers to coordinate fashion and lens technology updates and works daily to assure that each optical order is double checked before proceeding. Lens edging is yet another skill that Janice has been perfecting.
Karen, a Certified Optometric Assistant, is a wonderful frame stylist and lens design specialist with a wealth of knowledge, experience and boundless enthusiasm. She approaches each situation with renewed energy and attention to detail about specific needs and individual desires, limitations and possibilities. Karen also provides back-up help for the other areas in the office and as a result can also be found working with patients in the pretest and visual field assessment zones and at the front desk. She loves edging lenses and has become a great asset discussing display choices and frame trends with sales representatives.

Laura comes to Bayview Optometry with a wealth of experience from a high-paced Optometry office in Peterborough. Although also utilized as a front desk person with reception and pretesting roles, Laura's primary specialty relates to success of the contact lens section. She is tasked with patiently managing new wearer instructional sessions and coordinates most contact lens orders and delivery. She has also become the primary visual field testing specialist. Laura is the usual contact person for most ophthalmic drug/contact lens/supply and services companies. Oh yes, she also attends to the organization of accounting records and receivables/payables and as a Certified Optometric Assistant, has expressed desire to help when needed in the optical dispensary.
