Quality optometry eye examination is one thing. Having people really care about your eyes, life, and general welfare is another. That’s where our support staff has plans to excel. Beyond their friendly, welcoming reception voices are people who really want you to be comfortable with your whole experience with us. Our front desk, lens/frame lab and contact lens center goals are to help the entire vision care experience be as comfortable and pleasant as possible. No, we can’t promise to please everyone – but we can try…
Front Desk Staff

Heather has been with Bayview Optometry since its inception. She helped work through initial start-up issues and associated challenges and has continued to help us keep things running smoothly since. While recognized as a primary contact person for greeting patients and attending to incoming phone calls, Heather is an integral member of the team that will guide you through the registration and collection of pretesting information experiences and then will help with the check-out and payment components of your day. Behind the scenes roles are numerous but patient phone guidance, appointment scheduling/management and coordinating of communication to and from other health professionals are some of the tasks that Heather juggles.

Janice started her "temporary" job with Bayview Optometry before it physically opened its doors to patients and has remained a valuable team member since. Her opinion was valued with initial space design and decorating decisions and continues to be integral to operational details of the practice. Though often a front desk person with reception and pretesting roles, Janice's primary specialty relates to success of the contact lens section by patiently managing new wearer instructional sessions and then coordinating lens orders and delivery. She has also become the primary visual field testing specialist. Janice is the usual contact person for most ophthalmic drug/contact lens/supply and services companies. In her spare time, she also attends to the organization of accounting records and receivables/payables.

Sara joined Bayview Optometry at the end of 2009 and is now a familiar face regularly greeting patients in person or by telephone in the reception zone. Like the rest of the team, she demonstrates ability to multi-task very effectively and is not limited to question and answer sessions at the front desk. Sara regularly works with patients in the pretesting and visual field assessment zones but also enjoys offering help with frame styling when recruited. She is a liaison with other health professional offices and has valuable networking connections that often help day to day operations stay on course. Sara's experience with Focus Eye Centre also serves to facilitate patient surgical and ongoing management experiences.
Optometric Assistants

Janice is a certified optometric assistant with a wealth of experience in an optical dispensary. She enjoys helping with frame style decisions and provides counseling about lens designs and options. We’re fortunate to have Janice’s attention to detail applied to the proper choice, fitting, adjustment and repair of glasses. Behind the scenes, she meets with frame and lens suppliers to coordinate updates of fashion and lens technology while assuring that each order double checked before proceeding. Lens edging is another skill newly added to Janice's resume.

Karen is a wonderful frame stylist and lens design specialist with a wealth of knowledge, experience and boundless enthusiasm. She approaches each situation with renewed energy and attention to detail about specific needs and individual desires, limitations and possibilities. Karen also provides back-up help for the other areas in the office and as a result can also be found working with patients in the pretest and visual field assessment zones. She loves edging lenses and has become a great asset discussing display choices and frame trends with sales representatives.
