Avulux Migraine & Light Sensitivity Lenses
How Avulux Migraine & Light Sensitivity Lenses work
Not all light waves are the same. Light in the blue, amber and red spectrum cause photosensitive retinal ganglion cells to release melanopsin. Put simply, for people living with migraine this can trigger a migraine attack – or make it worse.
However, light in the green spectrum is soothing.
That's why Avulux engineers developed a lens that precisely filters the most harmful blue, amber, and red light while allowing in beneficial, soothing green light—delivering 2x better light quality than conventional light-filtering lenses.
Talk to us about how Avulux can help you manage the impact of light on your life.
Myopia Control Lenses
Hoya MiYOSMART® lenses are an innovative solution designed to correct myopia (nearsightedness) while helping to slow its progression in children. Using advanced, non-invasive Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S) technology, the lenses feature a unique ring of honey-comb shaped segments that send a “defocus” signal to the eye, helping to slow the excessive eye growth associated with childhood myopia. A clear central zone, along with the spaces between the segments, provides sharp, comfortable vision in all directions.
Made from a durable, impact-resistant polycarbonate, MiYOSMART® lenses are made to keep up with active kids. They include built-in UV protection, a scratch-resistant, water-repellent anti-reflective coating, and are also available with Transitions® technology, which automatically darkens outdoors and returns to clear indoors.
Clinical studies have shown that MiYOSMART® lenses can slow eye growth by at least 50%, reducing myopia progression by approximately 0.50D. By helping to manage myopia early, MiYOSMART® lenses can support healthier vision for the future.
Eye See Eye Learn
All of our optometrists are enrolled in the Eye See Eye Learn program with the Government of Ontario. This program provides children in Junior and Senior Kindergarten with a comprehensive eye exam and a complimentary pair of glasses, all fully covered by OHIP.
ZEST™ Treatment
Zocular Eyelid System Technology (ZEST™) is an in-office treatment designed to deeply cleanse the eyelids and lashes, providing relief from dry eye, demodex, and blepharitis. This procedure works as a deep shampoo for the eyelids, removing debris, mites, and bacteria that contribute to irritation and inflammation.
ZEST™ is extremely safe and suitable for the majority of patients. It is a gentle, non-invasive procedure that provides immediate and long-term relief for dry eye, blepharitis, and demodex-related irritation.
The procedure is performed by the optometrist.

Even with 20/20 vision, it’s important to have a periodic eye health assessment. Many vision threatening issues begin without alerting symptoms and at younger ages than most people expect. Glaucoma is especially worrying and isn’t just an old person’s disease. It’s much better to find a retinal hole before it’s a tear and before it becomes a detachment. Timely detection of early pigment changes in the macula can allow specialists to get involved before sight is severely lost to degeneration. Early stages of diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy may not give symptoms. Even side vision loss can be extensive before it actually interferes with life.
